Section 23. Penalty for giving short weight.

This Act was repealed on a date we do not have by the Assam Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act, 1959 (Assam Act No. XIX of 1959), as listed in the Assam Legislative Department's list of repealed Acts; it may still apply to matters that began before then.
23. Whoever in selling any article by weight delivers or causes to be delivered to the purchaser a weight less than what is purported to be sold shall, if the difference in weight exceeds the amount of error prescribed shall, on conviction, be punishable with fine which may extend to three hundred rupees or with imprisonment which may extend to two months.
