Section 8. Exemption of evacuee property from attachment, etc.

This Act was repealed on 7 February 2023 by the Assam Evacuee Property (Repealing) Act, 2022 (Assam Act 71 of 2023), s.2(1); it may still apply to matters that began before then.
8. Exemption of evacuee property from attachment, etc.—(1) No evacuee property shall be liable to attachment, distraint or sale in execution of a decree or order of a Court, or any other authority, while a Deputy Commissioner’s Order is in force in respect of such property. (2) In computing the period of limitation applicable to any suit, appeal or application in respect of any evacuee property, the time during which a Deputy Commissioner’s Order remains in force in respect of such property shall be excluded.
