Section 4. Obligation to pay rent.

This Act was repealed on a date we do not have by The Assam Repealing Act, 2022 (XXXIII); it may still apply to matters that began before then.
4. Obligation to pay rent.—A tenant shall pay rent for his holding at fair and equitable rates: Provided that in case of dispute the rate at which rent has been previously paid by a tenant immediately before the dispute shall be deemed to be fair and equitable unless the contrary be proved in a competent Civil Court.
