This Act was repealed on 21 November 2025 by the Code on Social Security, 2020 (36 of 2020), s.164(1); it may still apply to matters that began before then.
1. Short title, extent and commencement.—(1) This Act may be called the Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Cess Act, 1996. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 3rd day of November, 1995.
