77. The District Panchayat in respect of roads, streets, bridges, culverts and other properties placed by the Administrator under sub-section (1) of section 82 under its direction, management and control, may do all things necessary for the maintenance and repair thereof, and in particular, may— (a) widen, open, enlarge, or otherwise improve any such road, bridge or culvert and plant and preserve trees on both sides of such roads; (b) deepen or otherwise improve any water course and other property mentioned in clause (c) of sub-section (1) of section 82; (c) cut any hedge or branch of any tree projecting on any such public road or street; (d) lay out and make new roads; and (e) construct new bridges and culverts.
