Art. 259 – The lease period of the source of income of the comunidades shall be, as a rule, of three years and in special cases however, the same period can be extended for nine years, whenever the comunidade acknowledge the necessity of useful improvement to be made before the preparation of the estimate, and in such cases, a special clause shall be inserted dealing with such improvements in the properties. § 1. When the comunidade has coconut gardens, the auction of these shall be for a period of nine years, subject to special conditions in the estimates. §2. The auction of items of expenditure will be yearly.
