The Goa Members of Legislative Assembly (Removal of Disqualification) Act, 2005

1. Short title and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Goa Members of Legislative Assembly (Removal of Disqualification) Act, 2005. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 11th day of July, 2005.

2. Removal of certain disqualifications.— A person shall not be disqualified for being chosen as or for being, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Goa merely by reason of the fact that he holds any of the offices specified in the Schedule appended to this Act.

3. Repeal.— On and from the date of commencement of this Act, any law or enactment covering the subject matter of this Act and which was in force in the State of Goa as on such date shall be deemed to have been repealed from such date.

4. Repeal and saving.— (1) The Goa Members of Legislative Assembly (Removal of Disqualification) Ordinance, 2005 (Ordinance 1 of 2005), is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken in exercise of any power conferred by or under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken in the exercise of the powers conferred by or under this Act as if this Act was in force on the day on which such thing or action was done or taken.
