Portuguese Civil Code, 1867

Article 157 – Guardian of child in womb - If, at the time of the husband’s death, the wife is found pregnant, she will let her condition be known to the competent judge of orphans at the latest twenty days after the said death, or as soon as she becomes aware of it, so that the judge may appoint a guardian at womb, who will temporarily be responsible for the assets that will belong to the unborn child. § Sole paragraph - This curatorship shall last only until the end of the gestation.
