Portuguese Civil Code, 1867

Article 2372 – Joint responsibility of offenders - If the violation of rights is committed by more than one individual, all shall be jointly responsible except for the right of the person who pays for others to recover from them their respective shares. § 1 - These shares shall be proportionate to the criminal liability of each one of the accused if this liability is differently graded. § 2 - This proportion shall be regulated by the Courts in the same act in which the criminal liability is graded if the victim has applied for necessary compensation.
