Article 2531 – Oaths which benefit third parties – Following are the exceptions to the rule of article 2529: 1. The oath offered to the principal debtor also discharges his sureties. 2. The oath offered to one of the joint debtors, is available to his co-debtors. 3. The oath offered to surety, is available to the principal debtor.
