Article 889 – Object of mortgage - The object of mortgage can only be immobile assets which are not outside the commerce. § Sole paragraph - Whenever there is mortgage of the properties, encumbered with burdens, the mortgage shall cover only the value of the same properties, after deducting the amount of the encumbrances registered prior to the registration of the same mortgage.
