Section 16. Magistrate's powers to impose enhanced penalties.

16. Notwithstanding anything contained in section 32 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, it shall be lawful for any court of a magistrate of the first class to pass any sentence authorised by this Act in excess of its powers under the said section.
