Section 2. Definitions.

2. In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context:— (a) "Maintenance" in relation to a residence includes the payment of rates and taxes due to Government or any local authority and the provision of electricity, gas and water; (b) "Minister" and "Deputy Minister" mean respectively a Minister and a Deputy Minister of the Government of Gujarat, and 2["Minister" includes— (i) The Chief Minister, (ii) The Deputy Chief Minister, and (iii) Minister of State]; (c) "Residence" includes the staff quarters and other buildings appurtenant thereto, and the gardens thereof; (d) "Rules" and "orders" mean rules or orders respectively made under this Act.
