45. Appointment of Settlement Commissioner and Special Officer. The Government may appoint- (a) a Settlement Commissioner to perform such functions under this Act, as may be prescribed, and (b) as many special officers as may be necessary to exercise the powers and functions of a Collector under this Act in such local area as may be specified.
