2[25-A. Composition of certain offences.- 3[(1) Save as provided in sub- section (7) of section 20, any offence may, either before or after the institution of prosecution, be compounded by any officer not below the rank of Assistant Chief Inspector of Shops and Commercial Establishments, authorized by the Government, by notification, for an amount which shall not be less than one thousand rupees but shall not exceed five thousand rupees.] (2) Whereas offence has been compounded under sub-section (1), the offender, if in custody, shall be discharged and no further proceedings shall be taken against him in respect of such offence: Provided that if a person commits similar offence again within the period of one year from the date of composition of first offence, the same shall not be compounded.]
