601. Punishment for acquiring share or interest etc. with municipality.- Any councillor who knowingly acquires, directly or indirectly, any share or interest in any contract made with, or any work done for, the municipality ,except as a shareholder (other than a Director) in an incorporated company or as a member of a co-operative society, shall be deemed to have committed the offence punishable under section 168 of the Indian Penal Code.
