1. Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Karnataka Improvement Boards Act, 1976. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Karnataka. (3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the twentieth day of November, 1975 in the urban areas comprising the Hubli-Dharwar Municipal Corporation and the cities of Belgaum, Bellary, Bijapur, Bhadravathi, Davangere, Gulbarga and Shimoga, and on such date and in such other urban areas as the State Government may, by notification, specify and different dates may be specified for different urban areas.
