THE KARNATAKA LEGISLATURE SALARIES, PENSIONS AND ALLOWANCES ACT, 1956.

4. Residences of 6[Chairman, Speaker etc.,]6.- (1) The 6[Chairman,. Speaker, Deputy Chairman, Deputy Speaker, Leader of Opposition, 7[Government Chief Whip and Opposition Chief Whip]6]7 each shall be entitled 1[x x x]1 to the use of a furnished residence in the City of Bangalore 2[within thirty kilometres from the limits of the City of Bangalore]2 throughout his term of office and for a period of 3[sixty days]3 immediately thereafter, or, in lieu of such furnished residence, to a house rent allowance at the rate of 11[10[9[8[4[two lakh fifty thousand rupees]4]8]9]10]11 per mensem. 5[The residence provided under this sub-section shall be furnished on such scales and the plinth area thereof shall not exceed such limits, as may be prescribed.]5 1[(2) The Chairman or the Speaker who is entitled to a house rent allowance, shall be entitled for an allowance of 2[twenty five thousand rupees]2 per mensem for maintenance and upkeep of the residence and for layout and maintenance of gardens included in such residence.]1
