1. Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Karnataka. (3) It shall come into force at once in the cities of Bangalore and Hubli-Dharwar and in other areas on such 1[date]1 as the Government may, by notification, appoint and different dates may be appointed in respect of different areas.
