Section 254. Power of corporation in respect of works outside the city.

254. Power of corporation in respect of works outside the city.- (1) The corporation shall not undertake new works beyond the limits of the city without the sanction of the Government. (2) The corporation may, in the execution and for the purposes of any works beyond the limits of the corporation sanctioned by the Government exercise all the powers which it may exercise within the city throughout the line of country through which conduits, channels, pipes, lines or posts and wires and the like, run, and over any lake or reservoir from which a supply of water for the use of the corporation is derived and over all lands at a distance not exceeding two kilometres beyond the high-water level of any such lake or reservoir, and over any lands used for sewage farms, sewage disposal tanks, filter and other works connected with the drainage of the city.
