1. Short title, extent and commencement.—(1) This Act may be called the 1[Karnataka]1 Pawnbrokers Act, 1961. (2) It extends to the whole of the 1[State of Karnataka]1. (3) It shall come into force,- (a) at once in the 1[Mangalore and Kollegal Area]1; and (b) in such other area of the State on such 2[date]2 as the State Government may by notification specify.
