Section 109. Power to summon and examine witnesses.

109. Any Canal Officer empowered under this Act to conduct any inquiry may exercise all such powers connected with summoning and examining of witnesses and the production of documents as are conferred on civil courts by the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908; and every such inquiry shall be deemed to be a judicial proceeding within the meaning of sections 193 and 228 of the Indian Penal Code.
