Section 17. A person becoming disqualified to cease to be a councillor.

17. A person becoming disqualified to cease to be a councillor.— Any councillor who,— (a) becomes disqualified for being a councillor for any reason mentioned in the last preceding section, or (b) absents himself during three successive months from the meetings of the corporation, except from temporary illness or other cause to be approved by the corporation, 2[* * * * * * *] 3[or (d) absents himself from or is unable to attend the meetings of the corporation during twelve successive months from any cause whatever, whether approved by the corporation or not, 4[* *]] 5[* * * * * * *] shall cease to be a councillor and his office shall thereupon be vacant.
