Section 23. Prohibition of public meetings on the election day.

23. Prohibition of public meetings on the election day.— (1) No person shall convene, hold or attend any public meeting, within a ward of a municipal area on the date or dates on which poll is taken for an election from that ward. (2) Any person who contravenes any provision of sub-section (1) shall, on conviction, be punished with fine which may extend to two hundred and fifty rupees.
