Section 265. Penalty for failure to report births and deaths and for false statements.

265. Penalty for failure to report births and deaths and for false statements.— (1) Any person who fails to give an intimation as required by sections 259, 260, 262 or 263 shall, on conviction, be punished with fine which may extend to 1[five hundred rupees]. (2) Any person who wilfully makes, or causes to be made, for the purpose of being inserted in any register of births or register of deaths, any false statements shall, on conviction, be punished with fine which may extend to 1[one thousand rupees].
