Short title.

1. This Act may be called the Maharashtra Official Languages (Amendment) Act, 2015.

Insertion of new section 1A in Mah. V of 1965.

2. After section 1 of the Maharashtra Official Languages Act, 1964 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Act”) the following shall be inserted, namely :— “1A. The official language of the State of Maharashtra shall be Marathi.”.

Amendment of section 2 of Mah. V of 1965.

3. In section 2 of the principal Act, for clause (c), the following clause shall be substituted, namely :— “(c) “Marathi” means the Marathi language in Devnagari script which is adopted in the State under Government Resolutions issued, from time to time.”.
