1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Slum Areas (Improvement, Clearance and Redevelopment) Act, 1971. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra. (3) It shall come into force in such 4areas and on such 5date as the State Government may by notification in the Official Gazette appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different areas.
