Section 9. Powers of Election Commission and the Electoral Rolls of Wards

3[9. Powers of Election Commission and the Electoral Rolls of Wards :– (1) The superintendence, direction and control of the preparation of Elec-toral Rolls for and the conduct of, all elections to the Grama Panchayats shall be vested in the Election Commission. (2) Unless the Election Commission, by order published in the Ga-zette directs otherwise, so much of the Electoral Roll for any Assembly Constituency for the time being in force as relates to the area comprised within a Ward shall be entered in a register to be maintained for the Ward and such register shall, subject to such revision or updating as may be necessary, be deemed to be the Electoral Roll for the Ward for the pur-poses of this Act.]
