Section 1. Short title, extent, commencement and application

1. (1) This Act may be called the Puducherry Hindu Religious Institutions Act, 1972. (2) It extends to the whole of the Union territory of Puducherry. (3) It shall come into force on such date 1as the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. (4) It applies to all the Hindu religious institutions situate in the Union territory of Puducherry.
