157. Penalties (1) Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with any provision of this Act or of any rule made thereunder or of any notice or order, or direction issued under any of the said provision shall be punishable for the first offence with fine which may extend to rupees two hundred and for a second or any subsequent offence with fine which may extend to rupees four hundred. (2) Any person, after having been convicted for any offence under sub-section (1) continues to commit such offence, he shall be punished for each day after the first, during which he continues so to offend with fine which may extend to rupees twenty-five for every such day.
