40. Punishment for contravention of sections 5, 22, 23, 29, 30 and 37.—Whoever fails to comply with, or acts in contravention of, any provision contained in sections 5, 22, 23, 29, 30 and 37 shall be punishable— (a) for the first offence, with fine which may extend to two hundred rupees, (b) for the second or subsequent offence, with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees.
