This Act was repealed on 26 September 2011 by Tamil Nadu University Laws (Amendment and Repeal) Act, 2011 (Tamil Nadu Act 20 of 2011), s.33(1); it may still apply to matters that began before then.
17. Vice-Chancellor and other officers, etc. to be public servants. - The Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, the Finance Officer, the Controller of Examinations and other employees of the University shall be deemed, when acting or purporting to act in pursuance of any of the provisions of this Act, to be public servants within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal Code (Central Act XLV of 1860).
