1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the 1[Chennai] Metropolitan Area Groundwater (Regulation) Act, 1987. (2) It extends to whole of City of 1[Chennai] and the revenue villages in the *Chengalpattu district specified in the Schedule. (3) Sections 14 and 15 shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notifications, appoint and the rest of this Act shall come into force at once.
