Section 57. Power to try offences summarily.

57. Any magistrate of the first class specially empowered in this behalf by the Government may try summarily under the 23[Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898] any forest offence punishable with imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or with fine not exceeding five hundred rupees, or with both.
