6. Appointment of Head of Department and other officers of Fire and Emergency Services (1) The State Government shall appoint the Director of Fire and Emergency Services or any other officer as the Head of Department of Fire and Emergency Services, in addition to other officers and staff as may be necessary from time to time to assist the Head of Department of Fire and Emergency Services while exercising the powers or discharging the duties or functions conferred under this Act or Rules made thereunder. (2) The jurisdiction of the Head of Department of Fire and Emergency Services so appointed shall extend to the entire State in matters relating to Fire and Emergency Services. (3) Subject to the control, directions and superintendence of the State Government, the Head of Department of Fire and Emergency Services shall exercise such powers and perform such duties as are conferred and imposed upon him by this Act or the Rules made thereunder.
