23. Remuneration.- (l) The Chairman and such other members of a Jal Sansthan, if they work whole-time for the Jal Sansthan shall be paid from the funds of the Jal Sansthan such remuneration, if any, as may be fixed by the State Government. (2) If the Chairman or any other member of a Jal Sansthan is by infirmity or otherwise rendered incapable of carrying out his duties or is absent on leave otherwise in circumstances not involving the vacation of his appointment, the State Government may appoint any other person to officiate for him and to carry out his functions under this Act.
