Section 1. Short title, extent and commencement
THE UNITED PROVINCES PANCHAYAT RAJ ACT, 1947
This Act was repealed on a date we do not have by the Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj Act, 2016 (Uttarakhand Act 11 of 2016), s.194(1); it may still apply to matters that began before then.
1- (1) This Act may be called the United Provinces Panchayat Raj Act, 1947. (2) It shall extend to the whole of the United Provinces except the area, which has been, or may hereafter be, declared as, or included in 8[a city under the Uttar Pradesh Nagar Mahapalika Adhiniyam, 1959, or]5 a municipality [or]1 notified area under the provisions of the United Provinces Municipalities Act, 1916, or as a cantonment under the provisions of the Cantonments Act, 1924, or as a town area under the United Provinces Town Areas Act. 1914. [ * * * ]6 (3) It shall come into force at once.
