Section 54. Penalties

This Act was repealed on a date we do not have by the Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj Act, 2016 (Uttarakhand Act 11 of 2016), s.194(1); it may still apply to matters that began before then.
54- (1) No Nyaya Panchayat shall inflict a substantive sentence of imprisonment. (2) A Nyaya Panchayat may impose a fine not exceeding [two hundred and fifty rupees]6 hut no imprisonment may be awarded in default of payment : [Provided that no accused shall be tried for more than three offences in the same criminal case and the fine that may be imposed on anyone accused in a criminal case shall not in the aggregate exceed [two hundred and fifty rupees]6.]4
