Section 257. Mukhya Nagar Adhikari may require repairs etc. to be made

257- When as a result of any inspection or examination under section 255 the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari finds that any drain, ventilation-shaft or pipe, cesspool, house-gully, water closet, privy, latrine, urinal or bathing or washing place is not in good order or condition or, except when the same has been erected by or under the order of the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari, if it has been constructed in contravention of any of the provisions of this Act or the rules or bye-laws or of any enactment for the time being in force, the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari may require the owner by written notice to remove the defect in such manner as he may, subject to any rules or bye- laws in force, direct.
