Section 4. Power of State Government to appoint Inspector General and other officers and staff

4. (1) The Government shall, by notification, appoint an Inspector General of Prisons to be in charge of the administration and management of all the prisons, in Delhi, who shall belong to IAS/IPS service. (2) The Government may also, by notification, appoint as many Additional, Joint, Deputy or Assistant Inspectors General of Prisons as it may think fit or necessary to assist the Inspector General in exercising the powers and performing the functions of the Inspector General under this Act; (3) The Government shall provide the necessary administrative staff in the headquarters and the regional offices of the Inspector General.
