The Bombay Shops and Establishments Act, 1948

This Act was repealed on 1 May 2019 by the Gujarat Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2019 (Gujarat Act 4 of 2019), s.41; it may still apply to matters that began before then.

52[29. The period of work of an employee in a theatre or other place of public amusement or entertainment each day shall be so fixed that no period of continuous work shall exceed five hours and that no employee shall be required or allowed to work for more than five hours before he has had an interval for rest of at least one hour :] 53[Provided that, the State Government may, on an application made in that behalf by the employees concerned, permit the reduction of the interval for rest to half an hour.]
