57. Penalty for marking false statements. (1) If during the course of any inquiry before the Mamlatdar under the provisions of this Act, any person is found to have made a false declaration in an application made under section 19 or section 28, the Mamlatdar may, while passing any order on such application, direct the person making such a false statement to pay a fine not exceeding one thousand rupees. (2) The amount of fine imposed under sub-section (1) shall be recoverable in the same manner as an arrear of land revenue.
