Section 2. Definitions.

This Act was repealed on 24 August 2016 by the Maharashtra Repealing Act, 2016 (Mah. 31 of 2016), s.2 and Schedule, serial 32; it may still apply to matters that began before then.
2. Definitions.— In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,__ (a) “appointed day” means the 11th May 1959 ; (b) “panchayat” means the village panchayat having jurisdiction immediately before the appointed day over the area comprising the municipal district of Ambernath.
