149. Effect of area ceasing to be a village.— On any area ceasing to be a village 6[* *] under section 4,— (a) the panchayat shall be dissolved and all members of the panchayat shall vacate office as from the date 7[on which such area has ceased to be a village] ; (b) the unexpended balance of the village fund and the property vesting in the panchayat shall vest in the Collector, to be utilised for the benefit of the inhabitants of the area as the Collector may think fit. 1[* * * * *]
