Members, etc., of panchayat 5[* *] to be public servants.— Every member of a 6[* * * *] panchayat 7[* * * *] and every officer and servant maintained by or employed under a 8[* * * *] panchayat 9[* * * *] shall be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal code (XLV of 1860).
