Section 6. Establishment of Zilla Parishads.

6. Establishment of Zilla Parishads.— (1) For every District, thare shall be established a Zilla Parishad consisting of a President and Councillors; and the Zilla Parishad shall have all such powers and discharge all such functions as are vested in it by or under this Act, or otherwise. (2) A Zilla Parishad shall have authority for the purposes of this Act over the area for which it is established; and also over such additional area and for such purpose or purposes as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, specify in this behalf.
