Section 31. Special Provision for Selection of candidates for teaching posts.
This Act was repealed on 2 July 2007 by the Tripura University Act, 2006, s.48(1); it may still apply to matters that began before then.
31. (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in section 29 or section 30, until the constitution of a selection Committee referred to therein, a University Professor or a University Reader or a University Lecturer shall be appointed by the Tripura University Council, referred to in sub-section (i) of section 54 on the recommendation of a Selection Committee, constituted by the said Council in such manner as it thinks fit, which shall include as its member at least one person not holding any office of profit under the University and having special knowledge of the subject, which the Professor or the Reader or the Lecturer, as the case may be, will teach, nominated by the Chancellor. (2) If the Tripura University Council does not accept the recommendations of the Selection Committee the provisions of sub-section (2) of Section 30 shall apply mutatis mutandis.
