About us

Kanoon Kaka is a legal information platform for India. You describe your situation in plain words, and the answer is written in plain words too, citing the sections it relies on.

Who it is for

Ordinary citizens, law students and junior advocates. You do not need to know the name of an Act, or a section number, or any legal words at all. Describe what happened.

Where the answers come from

Every law you are shown comes from the text of a bare Act held in our own database, ingested from India Code (indiacode.gov.in), the Government of India’s official repository of Central and State legislation.

The AI never states what a law says from its own memory. It reads the sections we retrieved and writes the answer from those. Every Act and every section an answer cites is checked against our database before you see it.

That is the one rule everything else here serves: we would rather refuse than cite the wrong law. If we do not hold a law that covers your situation, the answer says so. An honest gap is a correct answer.

Which laws are loaded

Kanoon Kaka holds India’s Central Acts and the State Acts published on India Code. Not every State’s Acts are loaded yet; more are being added. Judgments and case law are not loaded.

Neither are rules, notifications, circulars or State amendments that India Code does not publish as part of an Act’s text.

This is information, not advice

Nothing here is legal advice, and using this site creates no lawyer-client relationship between you and anybody. We are not a law firm and we do not represent you.

An answer can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. The law also changes, and it is amended more often than any corpus is re-read. Before you act on anything, check the section on India Code and consult an advocate enrolled with your State Bar Council.

Who runs it

  • Kanoon Kaka is built and run by one person, as an individual. There is no registered company.
  • It is run from Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

How to reach us is on the Contact us page.

This is general legal information drawn from the text of bare Acts published on India Code. It is not legal advice, outcomes depend on the specific facts, and the Acts Kanoon Kaka has loaded are not the whole of Indian law. Consult a qualified advocate enrolled with your State Bar Council before initiating any action.
