Terms and conditions
Last updated 28 October 2026
These terms apply to your use of Kanoon Kaka (kanoonkaka.in). By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
1. Who we are
Kanoon Kaka is run by Aditya Prakash Kaithvas, an individual, from Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. There is no registered company. “We” and “us” in these terms mean that person.
2. This is legal information, not legal advice
Kanoon Kaka gives general legal information drawn from the text of bare Acts published on India Code. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for an advocate.
Using this site creates no lawyer-client relationship between you and us or anybody else. We are not a law firm, we are not advocates acting for you, and we do not represent you in any matter. Nothing you write here is protected by any privilege.
Before you act on anything you read here, consult an advocate enrolled with your State Bar Council.
3. Answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date
Answers are written by an AI model from the sections of Acts our database holds. The outcome of a real matter depends on its own facts, on procedure, on rules and notifications we do not hold, and on judgments we do not hold at all.
- We do not hold the whole of Indian law. Which Acts are loaded is stated on the About us page and under the message box on every screen.
- An Act may have been amended or repealed since we read it. India Code (indiacode.gov.in) is the authoritative text — verify the section there.
- Where we hold no law covering your situation, the answer will say so. That is the intended behaviour, not a fault.
You are responsible for checking anything you rely on. Do not use this site for anything urgent, and do not use it in place of a lawyer where a limitation period, a court date or your liberty is involved.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, mirror or bulk-download the site, its answers or its data by automated means, or use any bot, script or extension to ask questions;
- attempt to get around the cap on how many questions one reader may ask — by creating identities, clearing cookies for that purpose, or any other means (the cap is on the Pricing page);
- probe, attack, overload or interfere with the site, its hosting or its database, or attempt to reach any part of it you have not been given access to;
- use the site to break the law, to harass or impersonate anybody, or to submit somebody else’s personal information without their knowledge;
- present an answer from this site as legal advice, as our advice, or as the advice of an advocate, to anybody.
We may stop serving anybody who does these things. If you find a security problem, please report it — the address and policy are at /.well-known/security.txt.
5. Your questions, and how long they are kept
A conversation is kept for seven days and is then deleted. You can delete one consultation, or all of them, yourself from the sidebar at any time. What is stored, who processes it and how to ask about it are on the Privacy policy page.
Do not type anything into this site that you need kept confidential or that you need kept for longer than seven days.
6. The statutes, and our own words
The text of an Act is a Government of India publication and is not ours. The rest of the site — its code, its design and the wording of its pages — is ours, and you may not copy or republish it as your own.
7. The paid plan
The site is free to use. There are also paid plans, which let you ask more often, charged either every month or once a year; their names and prices are on the Pricing page. Nothing about the law is behind any of them — the same sections, the same statute text and the same citations, whether you pay or not.
- It is charged by Razorpay, our payment provider — every month on a monthly plan and every year on a yearly one — and renews until you stop it. We do not see or store your card, UPI or bank details at any point.
- A yearly plan is one payment for twelve months, at ten months’ price. What it gives you arrives month by month through that year rather than all at once, and it is the same as the monthly plan of the same size in every other way.
- The price shown for a plan on the Pricing page is the full amount charged: no payment gateway fee and no other charge is added at checkout, and that price is what your bank will show. The gateway’s own fee comes out of our side of it. If GST becomes chargeable on the plan it will be included in that price too, rather than added to it.
- You can stop it at any time from the account menu. You keep your plan until the end of the month, or of the year, you have already paid for, and nothing is charged after that.
- To move UP to a bigger plan, from the account menu, you pay the difference between the two plans’ prices once, there and then, and the bigger plan applies for the rest of the month or the year you are already in. Your renewal date does not change, and from the next renewal you are charged the new plan’s price. The whole difference is charged rather than a share of it for the days remaining — nothing is worked out pro rata.
- To move DOWN to a smaller plan, stop the one you are on and subscribe to the smaller one. You keep the plan you have paid for until the end of the month, or the year, you have paid for; the smaller plan begins after that. Nothing is refunded and nothing about the plan you are on changes before then.
- If you are on the biggest plan, you can add a top-up at any time, from the account menu. A top-up is a single payment that adds to what you can ask for in addition to your plan; your plan itself does not change, and your plan’s own month is always used before a top-up is. Valid for one month from the day you buy it. Whatever is left of it when that month ends is not carried over and is not refunded. You can add as many as you like, and each one lasts a month from its own day. If your plan ends, any top-up ends with it.
- A month or a year that has begun is not refunded part-way, except where the law requires it. The Refund policy page says exactly what happens to money already taken.
- Paying does not change what an answer is. It is still information and not advice, it can still be wrong, and we still refuse rather than guess when we hold no law that covers your question.
8. No promise of availability
We give no guarantee that the site will be available, that it will keep working, or that it will continue to exist. It may be changed, interrupted or withdrawn at any time, without notice. If we withdraw a paid plan, we stop charging for it.
9. Limitation of liability
The site is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind — including no warranty that an answer is accurate, complete, current or fit for your purpose.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from anything you do or do not do because of something you read on it. That includes any loss of a claim, a right or a remedy, any cost, penalty or adverse order, and any indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Governing law and courts
These terms, and any dispute about them or about your use of the site, are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru have exclusive jurisdiction.
11. Changes, and how to reach us
We may change these terms. The version on this page is the one that applies. If a change matters to you, stop using the site.
